Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are institutions founded before 1964 with the primary mission of educating Black Americans. They enroll a small share of US college students but graduate a large share of the country's Black doctors, engineers, judges and teachers.
CollegeTracker tracks 67 HBCUs — 36 public and 31 private. Every profile below carries the same data as any other school on the site: acceptance rate, in-state and out-of-state tuition, net price by family income, graduation and retention rates, merit scholarship criteria, and athletics.
Many HBCUs award merit scholarships automatically on GPA and test scores, with no separate application. Where we have that data, it's on each school's merit scholarships page.
