General Transfer Merit Scholarships

In-State Requirements
GPA 3.5+
Merit scholarships are available in limited quantity for transfer students enrolling in the fall term at the Athens campus. These awards are competitive and provide from $1,000 to $3,000 toward tuition expenses.
Eligibility: To be eligible for merit scholarship consideration, please note the following requirements:
You must apply, and be admitted by, May 15. We recommend that you apply by April 1.
You must have completed a full year of academic study (i.e., 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of work) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 to be eligible for consideration.

International Scholarships (International Funding Resources)
Other merit scholarships are available for international students who meet freshman or transfer scholarship criteria.
Eligibility: Awards are only available to students who begin their studies in the fall semester. You must submit a complete application by the early action deadline of November 15 for full consideration.

OHIO Admission Promise Award for Fall 2026

This renewable $2,000 scholarship is awarded automatically to admitted students who applied by the extended deadline of January 15, 2026, have earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a strong college prep curriculum and whose FAFSA results are received by the first priority date of January 15, 2026.
Students who are offered admission and enroll in a degree program within our nationally distinctive Honors Tutorial College degree program are eligible for this scholarship, valued at full in-state tuition (currently $14,582).
The scholarship will cover remaining Athens campus in-state tuition and mandatory fees after subtracting a student’s Pell Grant and other federal, state and institutional gift aid.
Eligibility: All incoming first-year undergraduate students who apply by the Early Action Deadline of November 15, 2025, and earn admission will be considered automatically for OHIO Excellence Awards.
