Students who are in the top 40% in their class, have scored at least an 1100 on the SAT or a 22 on the ACT, and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA will be automatically awarded a minimum of $1,000 in merit-based aid.

The Enhancement scholarship amount is up to $2500 per year. The Enhancement scholarship is awarded in addition to the LIFE or Palmetto Fellows scholarship.

The financial support provided by this program, combined with other federal, state, and institutional assistance for which they already qualify, will cover all tuition costs their freshman year.

Donor Scholarships (annual & endowed donor funds)

FMU offers over 150 named, specialty scholarships. These awarded scholarships are available to all students, though many have specialized qualifying criteria such as a particular field of study or specific hometown or home county.

This scholarship covers full tuition, room and board, and a study abroad experience.

Phi Theta Kappa transfer award

One renewable $1,000 scholarship is awarded per year to members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society who transfer to FMU.

State Scholarships (Palmetto Fellows, LIFE, HOPE)

FMU enrolls over 1,200 students annually who benefit from South Carolina’s Palmetto Fellows, LIFE, and HOPE scholarships.

Visual Arts portfolio awards

Visual Arts and Art Education Scholarships acknowledging exceptional work in the visual arts are awarded as funding permits on the basis of portfolio and other criteria review. Music Scholarships at Francis Marion are awarded through audition and/or interview to selected music industry majors and to exceptional music minors participating in the University instrumental and vocal performance ensembles. Theatre Arts Scholarships may be awarded on the basis of interview/audition for those interested in the acting/directing program, or interview/portfolio review for technical/design track students.
