Scholarship opportunities range from $500 to full tuition, room and board.
Eligibility: It is highly recommended that incoming freshmen students have a minimum cumulative weighted high school GPA of 3.0 and rank in the top 40% of their graduating class. For transfer or returning students, a 3.0 college GPA is required.

Donor Scholarships (annual & endowed donor funds)
FMU offers over 150 named, specialty scholarships. These awarded scholarships are available to all students, though many have specialized qualifying criteria such as a particular field of study or specific hometown or home county.
Eligibility: Generally, full-time enrollment is required to receive a scholarship. Unless otherwise stated in a studentβs initial award letter, scholarships are non-renewable.

Phi Theta Kappa transfer award
$1,000/yr
One renewable $1,000 scholarship is awarded per year to members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society who transfer to FMU.
Eligibility: Students must have a 3.25 cumulative GPA at the institution where they are members of Phi Theta Kappa. To be considered for this scholarship, you must be admitted to FMU and plan to enroll in Fall.

State Scholarships (Palmetto Fellows, LIFE, HOPE)
FMU enrolls over 1,200 students annually who benefit from South Carolinaβs Palmetto Fellows, LIFE, and HOPE scholarships.
Eligibility: Individual students should work with guidance counselors at their high schools to apply for these scholarships, but FMU financial assistance counselors can assist if needed.

Visual Arts portfolio awards
$1,000/yr
Visual Arts and Art Education Scholarships acknowledging exceptional work in the visual arts are awarded as funding permits on the basis of portfolio and other criteria review. Music Scholarships at Francis Marion are awarded through audition and/or interview to selected music industry majors and to exceptional music minors participating in the University instrumental and vocal performance ensembles. Theatre Arts Scholarships may be awarded on the basis of interview/audition for those interested in the acting/directing program, or interview/portfolio review for technical/design track students.
Eligibility: Winning applicants must be accepted at Francis Marion University as full-time art majors to receive funding. Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for music scholarships should contact the music program coordinator to schedule an audition/interview the February prior to entering the University.
